11th Annual Fort Greene Juneteenth Arts Festival

On behalf of The Cooperative Culture Collective and Urban Bush Women we say

THANK YOU to all of our participants and those who attended this year's Juneteenth Arts Festival!

The Cooperative Culture Collective and Urban Bush Women are co-producing the FREE 11th annual Fort Greene Juneteenth Arts Festival on Saturday, June 18 from 12-6pm at Cuyler Gore Park [at the intersection of Fulton St, South Oxford St and Greene Ave]. Juneteenth is a little-known important event in American history and is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. The Juneteenth Arts Festival celebrates African American history and culture and is being co-produced as part of Urban Bush Women's monthly Being Bushified! culture and community series. Last year Urban Bush Women dancers got the crowd of 600+ up and moving and this year UBW dancers Samantha Speis and Kendra Ross will bring the energy so plan on joining in! The festival will include performances; tours of Underground Railroad and other historic sites; film and photo exhibits; lectures; live drumming; local artisans and vendors and participatory activities in dance, music, spoken word and drama.
