INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Michelle Dorant is an arts leader, performer, and administrator whose career bridges performance, management, and community engagement. As Interim Executive Director and long-standing member of Urban Bush Women (UBW), she has performed in seminal works like Batty Moves and has served as both artist and board member. Her leadership focuses on cultivating inclusive artistic ecosystems and equitable organizational growth.

Her other performance credits include playing Shenzi and ensemble roles in Broadway’s The Lion King, Edna Guy in the Emmy-winning PBS documentary Free to Dance, and regional productions of Hairspray and Ragtime. In executive management, she co-founded Denver’s Neighborhood Flix Cinema and Café, overseeing programming, operations, and outreach. She also served as VIP Sales Manager at George Street Playhouse, leading strategic partnerships and audience development.

Dorant holds a BS in Biology from Spelman College and an MFA in Dance from Florida State University. At UBW, she continues using art for social change, empowering artists, and amplifying underrepresented voices.
