ELSIE NEILSON
EXECUTIVE ASSOCIATE
Elsie Neilson is a dancer, choreographer, and instructor originally from Philadelphia, PA, now based in Los Angeles, CA. She has performed professionally with Psychopomp Dance Theatre, Spector Dance Company, and Opus 1 Contemporary, and has worked as a freelance artist with numerous Los Angeles–based choreographers.
Elsie earned her BFA in Dance and Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University (summa cum laude) and holds certifications in the Elemental Body Alignment System (EBAS) Levels I and II, as well as Thai Bodywork. She has performed works by choreographers including Jenna Riegel, Helen Simoneau, Autumn Proctor, Melanie Richards, and Eric Rivera, and has trained with organizations such as Psychopomp Dance Theatre, MashUp Dance Company, Rebecca Lemme’s Focused Study, Doug Varone and Dancers, Bates Dance Festival, BalletX, and Princeton Ballet. At Bates, she received partial scholarships for two consecutive years through a work/study position in technical production.
In addition to performing, Elsie’s choreographic work has been presented at festivals across California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Virginia. She was also selected as a 2024 resident artist for the Brockus SHIFT/WEST Choreographic Residency. Elsie continues to teach and create on both coasts and is thrilled to serve as Executive Associate with Urban Bush Women.
